Earlier this week, Apple officially unveiled tvOS 11 at a separate session called “What’s new in tvOS.” tvOS 11 introduces a lot of features to the operating system including a change to On-Demand Resources, which allows developers to download more content, and support for right-to-left languages. According to Apple, developers now can add background colors and buttons to the OS. Besides, tvOS 11 also includes a blurOverFullScreen, which allows developers to blur the entire screen.
One of the exciting features Apple did not mention during its session is that Apple AirPods now can automatically pair with your Apple TV when you have your earbuds signed into your Apple ID on the Apple TV. Apple’s new AirPods currently include the ability to automatically pair with Apple iPads, Macs and Apple Watches. According to Apple, when users connect their AirPods to the Apple TV, sound will play through the AirPods.
Previously, users needed to manually connect their AirPods with the fourth generation Apple TV. tvOS 11 is now available as developer beta and developers can test out never-seen-before features like Home screen syncing between multiple Apple TVs, new background modes and even more.
At this year’s WWDC, Apple also announced Amazon Prime Video for tvOS 11. According to Apple, Amazon Prime Video will come to Apple’s new version of tvOS later this year and be exclusive to the fourth generation Apple TV. Apple and Amazon has long been in talks to bring Amazon’s TV service to Apple TV. In reality, in 2015, Amazon announced that the company would stop selling Apple TVs and Google’s Chromecast, so the arrival of Prime Video on tvOS will make way for Apple TV’s return on Amazon.com
At Worldwide Developers Conference 2017, Apple also unveiled iOS 11, new version of Apple’s mobile operating system, macOS 10.13 and watchOS 4. Besides, there is also a 10.5 inch iPad Pro and new MacBook Pro models at the event.
