BlackBerry to launch a water-resistant Android phone in October

Blackberry is struggling to sell its smartphones on the market. The company’s hit phone Priv failed to live up with expectations with poor sales performance. However, that doesn’t mean that the Canadian company has given up its plan to produce more smartphones. The failure of the Blackberry OS marked company’s complete switch to Google’s mobile operating system, Android.

At this year’s Mobile World Congress, the Canadian company announced its new Android-based smartphone called Keyone. The device has received mostly positive reviews with most critics praising the device’s beautiful look and high-end specs. However, it seems that the Keyone is not good enough to take on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, and Apple’s upcoming iPhone models.

Blackberry needs something special to challenge Apple and Samsung this year. According to sources, the Canadian company is planning to launch a brand new smartphone with touchscreen display on the front. Rumors claim that the new device will feature IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, making it the first Blackberry-branded phone to come with the feature.

Back in June 2017, rumors claimed that Blackberry would launch two new Android-powered smartphones this year. However, it seems that the company will announce one device only later this year. Sources say that the new device will be unveiled in October this year.

Tech analysts say that Blackberry’s upcoming device aims to help users deal with all weather conditions. It seems that this is a wise move for Blackberry, as the Canadian company is best known for manufacturing stable phones. IP 67 certification allows owners to use their device while it rains.

Some recent reports claim that the upcoming Blackberry phone aims to encourage iPhone and Android users to switch to its smartphones. There are no details regarding the device’s specs and design. However, tech experts say that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chip and feature premium design.
