The next generation iPhone is one of the most anticipated smartphones this year. Apple is undoubtedly planning something big to hit back at Samsung following the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. There have been a lot of rumors floating around that Apple will launch a special iPhone 8 this year with impressive features and a radical design change.

According to sources, the premium iPhone 8 will come with the Smart Connector. This matches with previous rumors suggesting that Apple would bring the Smart Connector to its new iPhone, and that it would be used for wireless charging. So, today’s sources just add credence to that.

In reality, Smart Connector is not a new concept when it comes to Apple products. Apple is currently using Smart Connector on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. Sources say that Apple’s Smart Connector on the upcoming iPhone 8 will be used for inductive wireless charging and VR/AR accessories. However, there is still no word on what that might look like and what accessories might be used.

In reality, the upcoming iPhone 8 has long been rumored to feature wireless charging. Besides, Apple is believed to include long-range wireless charging on all the three variants of iPhone this year.

Apple has been working on Augmented Reality for years. Earlier this year, rumors said that the Cupertino Company had more than 1,000 engineers working on augmented reality for future iPhone models. Besides, Apple also acquired multiple AR technology companies to work on the company’s project. Sources today claim that the new Apple TV hardware and AirPlay will have a role in Apple’s future AR-related projects.

The premium iPhone 8 is expected to feature a curved OLED display, long-range wireless charging and a glass body. Besides, Touch ID and camera will be built directly into the display. Under the hood, the new device is rumored to come with a 10-nanometer A11 chip. There is also a 3D sensor camera for facial recognition and augmented reality
