MacBook shipments hit 3.98 million units in Q2/2017

Apple MacBook ranks among the best laptops you can get right now on the market. Apple is selling millions of MacBook units every quarter, helping the company gain some ground on the market where Windows-based laptops are now dominating.

According to the latest sources, MacBook shipments officially hit 3.98 million units in the second quarter of the year, a 17.1 percent rise compared to the last quarter of the year. Tech analysts say that the launch of the 12-inch MacBook was the key to Apple’s great success in the second quarter of 2017.

Some recent reports claim that MacBook shipments will continue to grow in the third quarter of the year, mainly thanks to strong sales of Kaby Lake-powered MacBook Pro. Sources say that Apple’s new MacBook Pro has been widely welcome by users and tech experts worldwide despite featuring the same design as the 2016 models.

According to the latest data, Apple ranked fifth in the second-quarter ranking with 10 percent market share. HP retained its number one position in the table with more than 23 percent market share. In the second quarter of the year, Apple officially closed the gap with Asus. The Taiwanese Company’s market share stood at 10 percent during the second quarter of 2017. Acer finished sixth in the table and captured 8 percent market share.

Some reports claim that worldwide sales of notebooks saw a 3.6 percent rise in the second quarter of the year, mainly thanks to a strong demand in the US market. This year, Apple announced a long-awaited update to its MacBook Pro lineup of laptops with Kaby Lake CPUs and faster graphics. Apple’s new MacBook Pro has seen a steady growth since launching in June 2017 and is expected to be one of the hottest items during this year’s shopping holiday season.
