Samsung is doing pretty well in the smartwatch market. The company’s Gear lineup of smartwatches has seen a steady growth in sales over the past 12 months. According to the latest report, the South Korean firm has officially surpassed Fitbit in terms of wearable sales worldwide, mainly thanks to Gear S3’s strong sales.
Some recent reports say that Samsung captured 12.8 percent market share during the first quarter of the year, officially outrunning Fitbit, who stood at only 12.2-percent share. The Samsung Gear S3 ranks among the best smartwatches on the market, thanks to its stunning design and compelling features. The Gear S3 has been Samsung’s main focus in recent months and the company is now ready to announce what they have been working on.
Samsung has just announced that the company has decided to team up with Tumi, a US-headquartered company best known for luxury travel, business and lifestyle accessories, to launch the Gear S3 TUMI special edition, a luxury version of Samsung’s Gear S3 smartwatch being announced in August 2016.
According to Samsung, the special edition of the Gear S3 is officially available for purchase for a steep $449.99, which is higher than the $349 mark of the regular Gear S3 smartwatch. Samsung says that consumers can get the new wearable via BestBuy and Samsung’s online store. The new Gear S3 will officially hit physical retail stores worldwide starting on August 6.
The special edition of the Gear S3 sports a unique design from TUMI with Italian canvas and a stainless-steel buckle. Like the regular model, the TUMI Gear S3 comes with water-resistance feature, allowing the device to survive heavy rains and intense swimming sessions. When it comes to specs, nothing major is changing. We still have a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of internal storage, and 768 MB of RAM.
